Hospital AHU Modernization — Fan Array Upgrade for NYC Healthcare.

When critical airflow equipment fails, downtime isn’t an option — especially inside a hospital.
On October 18th, our field crew completed a fan array retrofit for a healthcare air-handling unit in New York City — delivering full operational reliability within a 10-hour live-facility window, with zero disruption to hospital operations.

Timeline Highlights:

Phase 1 — Disconnected existing motors and removed blowers, housings, impellers, shafts, and bearings.
Phase 2 — Fabricated and installed galvanized base panels; mounted six (6) direct-drive EC fans.
Phase 3 — Installed new Carel control panel with individual overload protection; wired and commissioned all fans under live operating conditions.

System Specifications:
🔹 Total Airflow Capacity: ≈ 22 000 CFM @ ~6″ static pressure
🔹 Configuration: Six (6) direct-drive EC blowers + one extra-capacity module for redundancy
🔹 Controls: Advanced electrical panel with six overloads and Carel controller
🔹 Components: Backflow dampers and BFD sleeves for safe, balanced operation
🔹 Commissioning: Factory-balanced fan modules for precise airflow and vibration control

𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲:
The upgraded fan wall now operates below nominal load, reducing energy consumption while maintaining design pressure.
The result — stable airflow, smoother control, and true modular redundancy for critical NYC healthcare infrastructure.
All work was performed within a live environment and completed without downtime.
